A Washington Diamond Upgrade Story... with Natalie and Gary
Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 5:19AM
Earlier this year we had the pleasure of meeting a dynamic couple (Natalie and Gary) looking to purchase a new, custom, ring to compliment a stunning engagement ring – a five stone, antique, anniversary-style band they had purchased more than 15 years ago in Germany.
A bit different from a traditional engagement ring upgrade, we wanted Natalie to share a bit about what their rings represented to them, how long they looked for the perfect ring, and what exactly they were looking for.
For those that may be considering a new ring purchase or “upgrade” we hope you enjoy this story with one of our favorite Washington Diamond brides.
You recently purchased a new ring at Washington Diamond for your 15th anniversary. Did you look for long for your ring? What were you looking for?
Actually, we have been looking on and off for a few years. There are so many factors to consider and so many choices, it was overwhelming and we would get discouraged and stop looking. Once we were referred to Washington Diamond, all that changed. We were able to shop quality diamonds and a variety of ring styles in a customer-friendly environment. We were specifically looking for something to compliment my existing band and incorporate my original diamond. Once we were educated by the Washington Diamond team on what my options really were, we wound up going in a different direction from where we started. I am so glad that someone took the time to help me think outside the box and present some viable alternatives. I know have a stunning ring that still takes my breath away every time I look at it!
How did you hear about Washington Diamond?
A few years ago one of my best friends from college got married to a great guy. One of the things that makes him great is the fact that he wanted to get her the engagement ring she truly deserved. He did his homework (plus some extra credit!), and decided to go with Washington Diamond. Knowing that he had done thorough research and having seen her gorgeous ring, we asked for the place where the purchase had been made and made an appointment.
What was your favorite part about the working with the Washington Diamond team?
Our favorite part about working with the Washington Diamond team was their knowledge and professionalism. The staff truly worked WITH me to pick a ring that would be both meaningful and of excellent quality. I never once felt that they were pushing me one way or the other – the shopping experience was fully about us, what we wanted, and what would work within our budget. Unlike many places that pressure you to make a decision right away, we were encouraged to take our time, check out all our options, and really think about the decision before making a choice.
What do your rings (new and old) represent to you?
We met in Germany where I was serving on active duty and my husband was working for the US Army. I found my wedding band (a five stone anniversary style ring) at an antique fair before we were even married. Not only is it beautiful, but the ring represents where we met and serves as a piece of history. It is the piece we were working on “matching” when we came to Washington Diamond. The new ring compliments the original band, and represents how strong we have become together since those long ago days….
What are some of the favorite pieces of jewelry you own?
My mother grew up in South America, and I have some gorgeous pieces of hand-filigreed gold jewelry that are quite unique. They are a great conversation starter! And from a wonderful trip to Italy, I have a very simply chunky gold ring that I wear everyday. The modern simplicity of it is a great contrast to the traditional wedding set on my left hand.
Natalie and Gary, thank you for sharing your story with our Washington Diamond community. Most importantly, thank you for letting Washington Diamond put a little more dazzle into your already beautiful, relationship.
